Kong: Skull Island

Kong: Skull Island is the latest reboot of the King Kong franchise and the second film in Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse. The film follows a team of scientists and Vietnam War soldiers who travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific and encounter a series of terrifying creatures and the almighty Kong.

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts delivers an enjoyable King Kong film with a solid plot, it’s not perfect. The story is muddled with too many characters which takes away from the plot and the story loses its focus.

Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson give likeable performances. Tom Hiddleston looks miscast. John C. Reilly’s character is annoying and humourless to watch.

Though Kong misses the mark with story, casting and humour, it’s a good popcorn movie. It’s an action-packed adventure fun for moviegoers and action fans.
