Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage (Chris Pratt). Old foes become new allies, and fan-favourite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.

The ensemble cast is marvellous. Main actors Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista work well together and share great chemistry along with the voices of Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Baby Groot. Pratt is likeable as charismatic and witty team leader Peter Quill/Star-Lord. Zoe Saldana is smashing and fantastic as Gamora. Great supporting cast from Michael Rooker and Kurt Russell.

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is fantastic. It’s thrilling and glamorous to watch from start to finish. The action is astounding with stunning special effects. The soundtrack perfectly fits the film.

Just like the first film, it’s fantastic. Action packed, hilarious, visually stunning and has a great soundtrack. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will not disappoint fans.

Logan

Logan is the tenth instalment in the X-Men film series as well as the third and final Wolverine film. Set in the year 2029, the film takes place 50 years the events of 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. A weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant Laura (Dafne Keen) arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

The cast is outstanding. Hugh Jackman gives a masterful performance in his last Wolverine film. Jackman’s portrayal as the X-Men favourite is gritty and raw. Solid performances from Patrick Stewart, Stephen Merchant and Dafne Keen (who also steals the film). Boyd Holbrook is pleasant to watch as the film’s villain.

Director James Mangold (The Wolverine, Cop Land) and co-writers Scott Frank and Michael Green have made a Wolverine film that fans have been waiting for. Though Logan is more violent than the previous X-men films, Mangold delivers an emotional, character-driven and action-packed adventure with a bit of humour. Unlike the previous Wolverine films, the plot is stable and there’s more focus the Logan character. A perfect superhero film to have everything for comic book fans and moviegoers.

An eXcellent movie and one of the best films in the X-Men franchise. Logan is a film you can sink your claws into it. Entertaining to watch from start to finish. A satisfying end to the Wolverine films that will not disappoint fans.
